When they are not playing together as a duo, Sara and Richard perform in popular 70's and 80's tribute act, Pop Dead Gorgeous, and the Blondie tribute act, Blondee
Ronley Teper as a monthly residency at the Tranzac club in Toronto.
Teper invited a rotating roster of some of Toronto's finest musicians
to publicly improvise around her songs and storytelling. This process
has developed a body of work that touches on a wide range of stylistic
influences from folk, funk, jazz, cinematic, theatric comedy and pop
music and that listeners have compared to artists like Tom Waits, Mary
Margaret O'Hara, Frank Zappa, and Kate Bush. She will be joined at
Caper's by multi instrumentalist Tim Posgate.
"Her hilarious lyrics are paired with theatrical vocal delivery,
ranging from her high, squeaky, little-girl voice to a low, throaty
growl. It's territory not commonly explored by female singers"
Nolan Hubbard boldly emerges as vocalist, guitarist and composer of evocative acoustic-pop masterpieces with the forthcoming release of his debut album and his moving and memorable lead-off single Today.
The album was recorded in Nashville alongside top session players, and was produced by Canadian industry veteran Douglas Romanow. The time spent in Music City USA proved to be edifying and encouraging for Hubbard, as he felt both in awe of the surroundings but also emboldened by the experience – awed by the significance of being one of the mecca’s of the music business, but also emboldened because he came to realize that he had what it took as a songwriter and player to hang with some of the world’s best. For his third full-length effort, the Toronto-based singer/songwriter turned to Cowboy Junkies co-founder Michael Timmins (no slouch as a songwriter himself) for production assistance, and together with Robertson’s regular cast of players they crafted a dozen songs that cast a light onto dark territory few artists dare to tread upon.
Late Mornings is much like a great short story collection, a work of art that one can become totally immersed in, and reveals new insights each time it’s revisited. With it, Craig Robertson has made an undeniable claim to be mentioned alongside Canada’s best contemporary singer/songwriters.Visit Artist Website
Steve Stacey is a throwback to the days of storytelling in song, contemplating life with humour, unique observations and truth that is too obscure to be a lie. Armed with songs about cars, lost love, drinking, the occasional murder ballad, no topic is off limits. Steve will keep you on your toes trying to figure out what will he say next. Working on a new album of original songs, Steve has 2 cd's of original material “Sounded Good at the Time” and “Tall Tales Fibs and Outright lies” which was described in Exclaim magazine -Steve Stacey and company have carjacked Buck Owens, rear-ended John Prine and made off with(at least) a vat of homemade whiskey to create this set of infectious masterpieces.Visit Artist Website
